Photo courtesy of Photos by DanielleKay has always wanted to be a writer, ever since the age of seven or eight when she copied the pictures out of a Charlie Brown book and rewrote the story because she didn't like the plot. Through the years her stories have changed, but one thing always stayed true: romance. Each and every one of her manuscripts included a love story so what else could she be but a romance writer?
She's worked as a receptionist, a secretary for several law firms, a grunt in a library, a computer lab tech and also tried her hand at being an office manager for a commercial real estate development company. But while these various jobs paid the bills, she always dreamed of becoming an author.
Her chance came after she decided to stay home to raise her family. While she loved being home, she was climbing the walls. Dirty clothes, dishes, sweeping? They weren't for her. So she tried her hand at writing the stories she liked to read and five and a half years later, Kay sold a story to Harlequin Superromance. In less than three years, she's sold a total of nine stories to Superromance and has a novella featured in THE POWER OF LOVE (June 2008) by Berkley.
Kay has been nominated for several awards, including the HOLT Medallion, Book Buyer's Best and the prestigious RITA Award. Praised for her emotional, heart-warming characters and stories, Kay isn't afraid to talk about the things people deal with in today's world. Topics like cancer, past sexual abuse and parenting teenaged girls. Readers relate to Kay's evocative stories with laughter and tears, and as one reviewer put it, "Kay Stockham is fast becoming a must-buy author...get ready to feel the power of romance and love."
Born and raised in Kentucky, Kay now lives in a small southern Ohio town and says she simply writes:
"Romance from my heart to yours."
