Post Conference Energy

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

I went to the Central Ohio Fiction Writers’ Conference this weekend and WOW. I heard great speakers, won a couple of prizes (YAY!) and just had a great time. My crit partner and I caught up on all the family, plotting stuff on the drive up, shopped and had a great lunch, and spent the weekend chatting up friends and fellow writers. I came home exhausted but energized. Such a great weekend. Now to catch up on laundry, housework etc. before hitting the WIP tomorrow morning.

Before I forget, my former editor, Johanna Raisanen is BLOGGING with the Pink Ladies Blog this Wednesday! So, mark your calendars and stop by. Doesn’t matter if you’re a writer or a reader, there are a lot of questions to ask the editors. Want to know why they pick the books they pick? What they like to read in their down time? I hope you’ll come join us.

 Have a great week!

The rough, rough, rough, ROUGH draft is done! Whoo-hoo! Smile Now the real work begins. I had some scenes work, some not and am generally not happy with it (am I ever?) but hopefully I’ll get there. I just have to ‘get there’ before Oct. 30. LOL

I also received my large print copies of A CHRISTMAS TO REMEMBER yesterday. Yay! I’m so excited about it. My first Christmas release. And Jack’s story to boot. (biting nails) I hope readers like the story and it’s worth the wait.

Blogging–yeah, I know. I’m way, way behind. Seems to be the story of my life lately. BUT, if you check here and I haven’t blogged, be sure to check out the www.pinkladiesblog.com, especially on Wednesdays. That’s my day. One of my former editors, Johanna Raisanen, will be guest blogging for me next week so be sure to check it out. Johanna is such a sweet person and a GREAT editor. She taught me so much. There will always be a special spot in my heart for her, too—how can there not be? She was the first to buy my manuscript. Smile

Events: I’ll be signing at the COFW Conference this weekend in Columbus, OH! Be sure to stop by and say hello.

Oh, nearly forgot. If you’re part of a group, book discussion, librarian or bookseller and would like to receive information from me regarding my latest releases, please email me at kay@kaystockham.com. After many, many months of technical difficulties, I’ve recently discovered my newsletter signup page hasn’t worked since May. Frown Please, don’t give up. Contact me and I’ll get you the necessary information. I’m so, so sorry for all of the trouble.

I’m in the home stretch of my wip and loving it. It still needs a lot of work, but there’s a sense of rightness to it that’s comforting. Hopefully my ed will feel the same way. Smile

Also, check out my photos page! We’re finally up and running after a long list of problems. With luck I’ll be adding more pages (old pics) as time goes on along with new photos from Lori Foster & Dianne Castell’s June Get Together and pics from RWA National and RAW. Yay!

 Stay tuned…. Smile

I’m still recuperating from the Reader Appreciation Weekend hosted by Lora Leigh in Carter Caves, Kentucky. What a blast! The signings were very well attended, the people just awesome. I’m exhausted—and hard at work on my wip once more. Deadline’s looming! ACK! Smile

I have some great pics of the event I’ll post as soon as possible.  It was so much fun!

Fun, Fun, FUN!!!

Thursday, September 13th, 2007

I’m heading off to a fabulous Reader Appreciation Weekend tomorrow afternoon and I can’t wait! I get to hob-knob with some of my favorite authors, spend time with friends and just generally relax. Exactly what I need right now.

If you’re in the OH/KY/WV area and want to take a beautiful drive, check out the booksigning taking place on Saturday from 1 – 4 pm at Carter Caves State Resort. I’ll be signing along with host Lora Leigh, J.R. Ward, Lucy Monroe, Christine Feehan and many more!

Kay – off to be a screaming fan along with the other readers there <G>
