Getting to know Lori Foster

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

hardtohandlelorifoster.jpg This week we’re getting to know Lori Foster, one of my all-time favorite authors. Lori is sweet and down to earth, and her ability to write characters (especially heroes) everyday people can identify with is an amazing thing. I’m so looking forward to Lori’s latest release, Hard To Handle, on shelves February 5! For more information on Lori, her amazing reader event in June and her charitable work, check out her website.

And now, let’s get to know Lori a little better!

Favorite thing to do in your down time?

[Lori Foster]  Go to the movies. I’m a movie nut and will happily sit through just about anything except chick flicks and dramas. Mostly I love action and horror.

Movies or sitcoms?

[Lori Foster]  Movies. I cant stand sitcoms!

Favorite comfort food or snack?

[Lori Foster]  Depends on the situation. If it’s cold outside, and we’re talking lunch, then Chicken and noodles. Pretty simple, but oh so tasty, especially if I can have some of my mother in law’s canned tomatoes with it.

If it’s toward evening, I like a sweet bowl of oats and some buttery toast.

The kindest thing anyone has ever done for you is?

[Lori Foster]  When I had my second son, a neighbor brought over dinner. It was sloppy joes with cheesy potatoes and a two liter of pop. But I was blown away by her generosity! Right up there with that kindness was something a friend did for me. I was sick with bronchitis, felt terrible, but my husband was on 3rd shift and I had 3 kids in bed when I started to feel really awful. My friend had called, heard how sick I sounded, and the next thing I knew she was at the door with cough medicine, cough drops, etc… she’s a nurse and knew the best stuff to get.

I’ll never forget how each of those ladies went out of their way for me. Very, very kind, and memories I’ll never forget.

Are you a planner or do you like surprises?

[Lori Foster] I’m definitely a planner. I’m overly organized and like things to happen as they should. The occasion FUN surprise is fine, as long as it doesn’t mess up my schedule. Wink

Going to RWA National?

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

sanfrancisco.jpgIf so, you might want to consider something. I just confirmed my donation to Brenda Novak’s online auction (check out out at Brenda’s site) for juvenile diabetes. The auction goes live in May. My donation is breakfast on Wednesday, July 30, at the San Francisco Marriott with myself and my agent, Karen Solem. Are you an aspiring author? A reader? Would you like our undivided attention to discuss books, publishing and a meal to boot? <G> Then please plan to bid on this auction item. Smile

I can’t wait to see who wins!

Sticking with it?

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

So, it’s nearly February. How is everyone doing on their New Year’s resolutions? I’m hanging with my Weight Watchers meetings. So far I’ve lost a little over 7 pounds. Not bad. I wish it were coming off a lot faster, but I’ve been told slow is good. If that’s the case, this is great. Wink

Since Pink Ladies Blog closed their cyber doors I’ve been getting a lot of writing done. I’ve completed four synopses and some pages for each. But, I also feel like I’m missing out on a great opportunity because I’m not blogging out there somewhere on a regular basis. Somewhere other than here, I mean. Group blogs are all the rage and several are still going strong, and there are times when I really miss it. A lot. But then I think of those four synops and the writing I’ve managed to do in the month or so since PLB closed and I’m torn. Are you involved in a group blog? Do you consider it a time sucker or a promo opp? Are you sticking with your New Year’s resolutions?

Foreign copies

Saturday, January 19th, 2008

foreigncopyachristmastoremember1.jpgI got a nice surprise in the mail yesterday–foreign copies of A CHRISTMAS TO REMEMBER from Mills & Boon, Harlequin’s other half across the ocean. I love getting foreign copies, even if they are in English. LOL

My other good news is that the baby sister from The Tulanes of Tennessee series finally began speaking to me last week. I sent a short blurb to my editor about the story and my ideas for it and my editor liked it so much she wants to wait on going to contract for a two book deal and opt for a three to include the sister. Color me happy! Smile I really like the story idea for Alex (Alexandra). Now to get the full synopsis completed and sent in to get that contract rolling.

I’m sooo very happy about my cover for ANOTHER MAN’S BABY. I think it’s my favorite of all time, which really says something. So, I contacted someone and they did something special with the cover for my Myspace page. Check it out by clicking here and let me know what you think. Aren’t they beautiful?!

Anyone have any good news you’d like to share? Please do! The world is full of bad news and I’d love to celebrate with you.
