The water company recently decided to ‘test the lines’ in my area. The result? My office flooded. Not just my office, however, but we know of TEN other houses which sustained damage the water company says they’re not responsible for. It’s in their contract. :soapbox: It’s in their contract that they can ruin people’s homes and not have to pay the damages? :baby: Anyone else see something wrong with this picure?
So, at the moment my office is torn apart. EVERYTHING has to come out so that the carpet, padding and sub-floor can be repaired and replaced. Picture an armoire FULL of supplies, a cabinet, printers, a four foot bookshelf double loaded and three eight-foot bookshelves piled high. Not to mention my executive-sized desk. My writing desk. My on a deadline, this is where I get my work done, desk. All piled high in whatever nooks and crannies in the house we can find to store it out of the way. All due to the water company boys having some fun playing with the water spouts. :soapbox: They can test the lines, but I can do this
I might be a wee bit bitter.
The GOOD news (let’s focus on the positive, shall we?) is that instead of carpet I’ve chosen tile. Beautiful tile that will make the room even more beautiful to work in–when it’s finished. *sigh* Until then, I’ll be a traveling writer, searching out places in my area for some quiet time and inspiration while the demolition takes place. The deadline looms, so does vacation, and I’m bound and determined to have this book done before I get on the plane. Say a few prayers for me, will you?
More good news (I’m trying to focus here) :news: is that I’ve received two more reviews for Another Man’s Baby and they were phenomenal! Whoo-hoo! Check them out on the main page.
