More glitches

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

It seems as though we’re always having some glitches here when it comes to web stuff. Due to a Startlogic update, my site hasn’t been functioning properly. *sigh* If you received an error message when you tried to sign up for my newsletter, sent me an email via the site etc, please note those functions were NOT working and I didn’t receive. :comwind: That means…you need to sign up again. :chair: I’m so sorry for the inconvenience. Technology is a pain, no?

The Contest Page/entry is also NOT working. Razzullhair: Please be patient and know that I’m going to add to the prize package–and extend the entry date until the end of May.

Home again

Monday, April 28th, 2008

I returned from Chicago’s Spring Fling Conference yesterday which featured the fabulous Debbie Macomber. What fun! My CP and I got to hang out with Superromance buddy Amy Knupp, Kensington historical author Janette Kenny, Superromance editor Victoria Curran and so many more! I have pictures–but my dh took the iphone to work with him so now I’ll have to wait until he gets home to post them. *sigh* :bubble:

Today it’s time to get back to work on this deadline book. Wish me luck! :shake:

Check it out! Nick Tulane is HOT! :smooch: When I first saw the cover, my first thought was that he looked like Ethan (Nick’s older brother) but there’s no denying that the couple has some major chemistry, no? :toast:

The Biggest Loser and a LOCAL event

Thursday, April 17th, 2008

Anyone watch The Biggest Loser? The finale was this week but I only got to watch it last night. All I can say is—Whoo-hoo!!! Clap  For the first time EVER, a woman won the quarter of a million dollars. And she sooo deserved it! Alli and Kelly both deserved to win. They worked so hard. But Alli lost a whopping amount of weight for her size–in about 5 1/2 months. Wow. The show is so inspiring–and it makes me wonder WHY I can’t get these last ten stubborn pounds off. I’ve lost twenty total due to Weight Watchers and am feeling so much better, but the last ten? Come on! It’s very frustrating.

And speaking of frustrating. I’m having some website problems due to my host’s upgrades. :soapbox:Basically, they’ve messed up a lot of stuff and things aren’t working as they should. We’re slowly getting things fixed, but it might take some time as my web guru is off to RT (Romantic Times) this week. Lucky guy!

As to the ol’ wip… I’m getting there. But I am freaking out over my self-imposed deadline of finishing the rough draft before I leave for Chicago. Must. Get. It. DONE!

Also, before I forget—if you’re in the OH/KY/WV area this weekend, check out the Family Expo taking place this Sunday at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena in Huntington, WV. From Noon to 4 PM, there will be inflatables, a petting zoo, games, health screenings and–a booksigning! Yeah, bad timing with the old book due, BUT I am one of only three authors asked to participate and it’s such an honor to be included in an event like this. Please come out and show your support so that I’ll be asked back next year! :wave2:

Until then…I have to get to work! Razzuter:

Office Remodel

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

So, my office flooded several weeks ago, which required us to rip up the carpet and padding and redo our floor. But that also meant dragging two eight-foot bookcases, a four-foot bookcase, armoire, executive size desk, multiple printers, a loveseat, etc out of my office. Which means my husband’s billiard room presently looks like this:

Well, if you know me, you know that when my hubby asked, “Are you leaving the paint the same?” I couldn’t say yes. Grinream: That led to me dragging out stacks of paint samples.

My office used to be Mark Twain Yellow (Not kidding!) and looked like this:

hubbyofficeyellow1.jpg

Note the red ceiling. I LOVE my red ceiling. But with the new paint color (Windswept), I’m thinking the red ceiling needs to have more glaze added to darken it. What do you think? Here it is up close:

Now be honest. I know you can’t picture it well, but my furniture is mostly black. My desk is cherry, about the color of brown in the light fixture, and so is the armoire. Against the yellow walls, they went together and looked great, but how do you think they’ll look against the new color? I’ve been told the color scheme is very common in areas around Lebanon etc because of the textured walls, red wood ceiling and granite floor. Oh, you have to factor in the granite tile. Here it is:

tile1.jpg

Against the walls, the tile looks great. But now we’re back to the ceiling. LOL I think once my deadline book is finished I’m going to be atop a ladder glazing the ceiling. The pics seem very bright color-wise on the internet but they aren’t. It’s a dark red and a medium-dark gray/green. The tile has a green tinge to it, too. Hmmm…maybe I need to marble the ceiling with paint? My dh would really love me then. LOL

In the meantime, my hubby is working on the radiant heat to keep the tile comfortable. Which means my floor presently looks like this:

radiantheat1.jpg

I’ll keep you posted on the tiling process. Nailbiting Just kidding. The dh and I are somewhat proficient when it comes to housing projects, so we ought to be okay. If I could just figure out this color thing. Clown

And because I have to focus on something beautiful to keep from doing this Razzullhair: due to the mess, I thought I’d post a picture of this:

pappawbasket1.jpg

Isn’t it beautiful? My husband’s grandfather is legally blind due to Macular Degeneration (sp?) but he keeps himself busy by gardening and basket making. This was one of the baskets pulled from my office.

And that’s it. My remodel update. Let me know what you think of the colors and I’ll keep posting pics as I get them. The next part of the process is kind of slow but when we get the tile down, I’ll let you know.
