Black Friday Survival

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

So, how many of you braved the cold for the Black Friday deals? I avoided Wal-Mart etc like the plague this year, but I did go above and beyond for one particular store. We have outlets here and, well, one of my favorites offered 60 percent off their already marked down prices. Me? I waited THREE HOURS to get in to shop. OMG. I still can’t believe I did it, especially since I’d gotten up at 5:30 AM on Thursday morning (thanks to the dh *sigh*) and was in line at 11 PM that night. Yes, by the time I got to bed on Friday morning, I’d been up for 27 hours straight! Vampire Drink OMG. I’m sooooo not in college anymore! LOL I was MISERABLE on Friday.

Were the deals worth it?

Yes, Virginia, they were! :cheer:

I came home a happy, happy camper. What about you? Find any great deals?

Winner of last week’s earrings: Zara! Zara, please email me privately with your shipping information.

Beginning (tomorrow, I hope) soon, I’m planning on posting my annual TWELVE FAVES OF CHRISTMAS so be sure to check back!! (And don’t forget to share the news on those deals! I love to hear of good shopping finds!)

Speed shopping

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

So, I’ve been sick, my editor emailed and we set up a time to discuss revisions for Ethan’s story, I’m working on Alex’s story and it’s the holidays? Hmmmm…

My dh called me on Sunday and asked if I wanted a quick trip to Cinti to do my Christmas shopping (He knows me and I’m one of those annoying people who like to finish early and, yes, sad to say but I’ve been complaining about when/how I’d get it done.).

How could I say no? He Pricelined a hotel and off we went. I don’t think I’ve ever ran through stores so fast but–check it out–I’m almost done! Seriously. I made a list (which wasn’t very long, thank goodness), checked it numerous times throughout the day and just did it. What a relief! Now I can concentrate on those revisions and writing and get things done. Now if that would work for getting my house back to rights. LOL

As to the winner of last week’s earrings: Jennifer! Jennifer, please email me with your shipping address.

As to my question for the day… it’s almost Thanksgiving. What are you doing for the big day?

Surprised

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

I spent the morning lazing on the couch but after I finally got my butt in gear, I would up with a solemn promise from the fam that if I cart them to the movies they’d come home and work on cleaning up the house. :badgirl: It’s amazing what a few days of sickness can do to a house! LOL

Anyway, we went to see Twilight. I’ve heard the hype, but I’ve never read the books. My daughter has and while she says the books are so much better than the movie, I have to say I was surprised because I left the theater thinking that I really need to read the books. I’m definitely intrigued. Now to find the time to read!

Have you read the Twilight series? Seen/going to see the movie? I hope you’ll come back and share your thoughts.

Weekend Plans

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

So, tomorrow is my birthday (we won’t discuss years ) and I’m hoping to catch a movie at some point this weekend if I get to feeling better. I was supposed to attend a signing in Cincinnati this weekend but please note I will NOT be at Romancing the Holidays. What kind of holiday would it be if I coughed all over my readers and made them sick for Thanksgiving?

Thanks for the well wishes. They’re working. The antibiotics I drank last night are beginning to kick in. Problem now is that I’m feeling better but I’m so tired! I wear out easily, which is why I had to withdraw from the Cincinnati gig. Two hours there, two hour signing and two hours home would leave me sitting by the side of the road in a stupor. I just don’t have the energy. But I’m sounding much better today and actually have a voice. Yesterday, not so much.

Do you have any plans for the weekend? Doing anything special? And how’s the Christmas shopping coming along?
