In need of an occupation

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

No, not for me, for my heroine! I need help and I hope you’ll offer suggestions. I need a business for her in which:

*she owns her own business and is hands on, but able to delegate/schedule help other than herself

*heroine can work from a remote location (tho not easily–can’t make it easy, you know?)

*she rents a physical location/has a store/building/something

Hmmm….

Thanks in advance!

Craving sugar

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

I’m bound and determined to stop drinking pop. And I have. Well, officially it’s only been about 48 hours, but I’m going to do it! :cheer: I know the sugar is bad for me and we won’t even talk about the acid and other nasty stuff in there. Razzuke: So I’m now drinking tea. Lots and lots of tea. LOL It hasn’t been as bad as I thought it would be. I like the fizziness of pop but I’ll get over it.

So do you have any addictions? Drinks or food you just can’t live without?

The last days

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

of school are here. Yup, that’s right. Only three more days until SUMMER VACATION. God, help me. LOL My two are older and definitely self-sufficient so it’s not so much having to provide food etc for them as providing a referee. It definitely takes a toll on the writing time and coherent thought. LOL

So what about you? Do you have kids home for vacation yet? Have to worry about grandkids and keeping them entertained? Better yet, do you have any advice for us moms who need quiet to work?

Three days…. ACK!

Clutter-City

Sunday, May 24th, 2009

My dh is off this weekend and even though I need to be working on writing, we spent most of the time trying to reclaim our house from the clutter piling up in every room. Where does it all come from?! The good thing is that we made a ton of progress and I feel better already. Good Sam will get a hefty donation very soon.

Also, I’m very sad to say that I haven’t done any beading/jewelry making for a while. I don’t know if you’ve noticed but I haven’t drawn names or given away earrings because of this, but I hope to make up for it soon with a trip to the bead store. But until that happens, I hope you’ll stick around and chat with me?

I have a recommended read to pass along, too. A while back I downloaded Homecoming by Jill Marie Landis. Have you read it? If not, do! It’s a Steeple Hill Love Inspired Historical and it’s fabulous. I love western/Indian stories, and Jill Marie does a fantastic job.

What have you read lately? Anything strike you as a must read? Please share!

Distractions

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

Okay, so, I figured today I’d post some HAPPY. We need happy, right? Silly So I thought I’d talk about distractions. Normally, I hate distractions. I don’t like being pulled away from something I’m doing and want to get done and distractions are just a bother. Well, yesterday after the funeral of my friend, I desperately needed a distraction. No way could I come home and work as though nothing had happened.

Reading was out because it required too much concentration. I wanted something simple, something where I could zone out if I wanted to, and no one would notice. DS suggested a movie (Terminator opened last night) and so we headed off. Distraction? Oh, yeah. The movie is full of action, quite a bit of tenderness/romance and even some very strange, how-did-they-do-that shots of Arnold Swartzennegar (sorry about the spelling but it’s early and I don’t want to look it up) as a YOUNG Terminator. It also has TWO hunky heroes, not just one.

So what are your favorite forms of distractions? Reading? Movies/television? Talking with friends? When you want to just veg, what do you do?
