Black Friday

Friday, November 27th, 2009

Have to say, I love Black Friday. It’s not so much the shopping (heh–I LOVE the shopping!) or standing in the cold waiting for the stores to open :veracold: but the friendship and fun of the night. Last night my daughter and I left for the outlet malls with my CP and her daughter. Oh, what fun! :singing: We had a blast. However, we also avoided places like Wal-Mart etc like the plague. Those places are scary on BF.

Ornaments! Here are a few more:

This is a beehive ornament I picked up at Christmas place at the beach one year. Love this.

This is one my daughter made which makes it even more special. It’s an origami crane hanging inside a glass bulb. Isn’t it gorgeous?

And last for the day, Mickey. My family loves Disney (okay, *I* love Disney LOL) so while we were there I had to pick up a momento of our trip.

And because I didn’t have time to blog beforehand–HAPPY THANKSGIVING (Better late than never, eh?) :turkies: I hope you had a wonderful day. What was your favorite food/treat for the day? Mine would have to be my husband’s cousin’s apple pie. Despite her worries that her pies are never good, this one was DELICIOUS. Yum!

As the weather cools

it makes me long for summer again. I know, I know. It’s not even cold yet. But when I look at these ornaments I always think of summer/fall.

I love sunflowers. They’re one of my all-time favorite flowers. They’re just so cheery.

And another ornament on my tree?

This one represents my son’s first year of school way back when. It seems like yesterday but years and years have flown by in the blink of an eye.

And the last one of the day. I carted this one all the way home from NYC on my first trip there. Cool, huh?

Do you have a favorite ornament? If so, what is it?

Finally!

The website has been down for a while. Something to do with servers etc. I have more pics to upload, including party pictures for my birthday, but I’ll do that at the end of today if possible. I’m working on typing in my handwritten notes for the work-in-progress and just taking a break to post this.

How was your weekend??

More ornaments

So, here are a couple more of my favorite ornaments. The first, a dragonfly:

ornamentdragonfly.jpg

I love this dragonfly. As soon as I saw it it reminded me of summer days on my family’s farm in Kentucky. Dragonflies would zip around the pond and amaze us with their speed.

Here is another fave–a starfish. I bought this one during a trip to North Myrtle Beach after we found a starfish stranded in a shallow puddle.

Do you have a theme for your tree? Is it all one color? One type of something?

Treasured memories

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

This week I’ve been called a few names. Weird, freak, over-achiever. Heh. Why?

Because I’m one of those people who LIKE Christmas and who…put the tree up. Not only that, as of Sunday night the tree is not only up (it takes a while, trust me), it’s DECORATED with treasured memories. So this week I thought I’d share a few of my memories with you, along with a picture of the ornament that corresponds with it.

First up? My car.

I’ve been collecting ornaments for years. Ever since the dh and I were married, actually a year or so before so…. twenty years give or take. Well, one of the first ornaments I purchased for my all-glass tree was this one:

ornamentcar1.jpg

At the time it represented dreams. Some as simple as wanting a little red car, but also travel and fun. The little wreath on the back? Adorable. LOL I couldn’t resist.

I have another little red car on my tree, it’s a convertible filled with presents. It’s not as nice an ornament as this one but I like it, too.

Anyone else getting ready for Christmas? Shopping yet?
