Back-to-School
Confession: I danced in the aisles of Wal-Mart the other day. Actually, it’s been a few weeks ago but still, I think of that night when I first saw the back-to-school items being shelved and I can’t help but smile.
Yes, I’m that mom.
I love my children. I cherish them. But I want to strangle them at times. LOL Summers in the middle of nowhere are BORING and there isn’t enough to do to keep them entertained. They were bored before the first DAY of summer vacation was over, and now? Oh, my.
*I’m* the one climbing the walls–and dancing in the aisles–waiting on school to begin again so that my writing routine can go back to normal. Does this make me a bad mom?
How are you doing with summer vacation? Are you ready for school to start or are you wishing time would slow down?

I remember the first day that my youngest attended “regular” school (as she had to get special education at a daycare centre from ages 2-5 first). It was a warm day in May. I cried as I was walking out the front door of the school, as “my baby” was growing up. By the time I got in the car, though, I was yelping out loud, “YES!!!!!” (and thinking, “I’m free!” or something like that). Definitely mixed emotions that day.
Alas, my kids are full grown now (although working full-time and paying room and board at home to save money for a downpayment on their own homes – as they’ve already bought their vehicles free and clear). Even so, I DO look forward to September, but not because of the kids. It’s because of the heat. I look forward to September and October (and maybe November) when we don’t need air conditioning and we don’t need the furnace on (as I am always trying to save money so that we have money to buy the things we really want, like gas money in order to visit friends and family far away).

I don’t have to worry about those “Back to School” feelings of joy. But I will have to put up the High Schoolers taking over the small Mall where I walk to each day.. It ticks me off how they hang about and are rude and disrespectful to the adults around them… I know all teenagers are not like this. But it just irks’me to no end to be treated this way..
Okay I am finished my rant. :soap:
